![]() Ms. Christine Weithman
Dear Ms. Weithman: The Board of Directors of Natick Center Associates voted unanimously to support the debt exclusion override to build a new middle school. The board voted during its meeting of September 7, 2000, after Kristen VanAmsterdam made a presentation in support of the override and Linda Sussman made one against it. Through our activities, our board has labored long and hard to build a better Natick Center for all citizens.. In so doing, we have always seen ourselves concerned with a broader set of interests than those of business alone. To a person, we are committed to fostering community excellence. And we believe that providing a first class infrastructure for the community’s school population is an essential part of an excellent community’s responsibility to its children and to its future. Although no one can predict the future with perfect accuracy, the evidence persuades us that voting the override now will allow Natick to take advantage of a generous state reimbursement policy while it is available. Whether such largess will be there next year or the year after is questionable, but Natick’s need for additional classroom space and better facilities will not diminish in that time. In the long run, the override presents the most fiscally responsible way of ensuring that the Town of Natick continues to provide an excellent education for Natick’s children. Sincerely,
Arthur B. Fair, III
